Pioneer High School Jazz Band Auditions

Categories8th GradeGeneral Information

From Mr. David Leach at Pioneer:

We are announcing jazz band auditions for the 2019-20 season. Any students attending Pioneer and/or are from the Pioneer district (community students) are more than welcome to audition!

The auditions will take place at Pioneer HS on May 28th (the day after memorial day). We will start at 2:50pm and proceed until about 4:15pm. The audition is a live section audition, meaning students need to arrive with this year’s selection (2019 we will use “Night Train”). Each prospective member will sit in with this year’s current section. Trumpets and Trombone may be asked to any part within their section (they are all similar). Saxophones may be asked to play any like part (i.e. alto 1 and 2, etc.). Interested Clarinetists, please prepare the tenor sax parts.

It is ok for middle school students arrive at the audition late as they do not get out of school until 3:07pm. But, please understand they need to get to the audition as soon as possible.
If any student would like to be considered as a soloist, they need to prepare an improvised solo in the Night Train. This however is not required.
Attached to this email are all of the parts for our audition selection Night Train and a Youtube Audio recording. Please let me know if students would like to audition but are not available on the 29th
Let me know if you have any questions.
