End of the Year Updates

Here are a few important end of the year updates for band:

School Instrument Check In

Cleaned school instruments are past due. If your student still has a school instrument at home, they need to bring it back to Tappan this week so that we can assess the instrument for any damage and work on inventory. We aren’t able to finish passing out instruments for the summer until we have all our school instruments checked back in.

Summer Instrument Rental and Check Out

Summer instrument rental receipts are also past due. If your student needs a Tappan instrument over the summer, please go to https://www.a2schools.org/domain/2218 and scroll to the bottom for summer instrument rental information. If you have a financial concern, please contact Ms. Stout directly at stoutl@aaps.k12.mi.us or send a note in with your student. Once your student turns in the rental receipt, we will give them a Summer instrument rental guarantee form. After this form is filled out and signed by you, the instrument may go home for the summer. Eighth graders should rent instruments from their high schools for the summer.

School Instrument Damages and Repair Costs

All turned in school instruments tagged with damages will be assessed this week. If your student’s instrument has damage from after we checked it out to them this year, we will contact you directly with repair costs.

Band Books

All band books are due back by Wednesday June 5th to Ms. Stout. For the “Standard of Excellence” books, the replacement fee is $10 (cash only, please) if your student has misplaced their book. The 6th grade “Concert Time” books are $3 each to replace. Jazz Band students need to return their black binders completely emptied along with any jazz books loaned out over the year.

Last Days of Rehearsal

Below are the last days students need to bring instruments (by grade level):

8th Grade Band: Wednesday, June 5th

7th Grade Band: Wednesday, June 12th

6th Grade Band: Friday, June 7th

Post rehearsal, we will be working in the music tech lab and doing listening for next year, among other musical activities.
