Tappan Instrument Return 2021


Dear Tappan Music Families, 

We will begin collecting AAPS instruments next week to complete inventory and repairs. Please read below for important information about the AAPS Summer Music Program and AAPS Instrument Return. If you rented your instrument outside of Tappan this year, please scroll to the bottom of this email.

AAPS INSTRUMENT RETURN

IN PERSON STUDENTS

Thursday May 20th – May 28th

  • In person students can turn in instruments during class beginning Thursday May 20th with Cohort 2
  • After check in, your school instrument will stay at school but you will be able to play on it during class.
  • All 8th graders must return Tappan instruments

VIRTUAL STUDENTS

Monday May 24th – May 28th

  • Virtual students can return instruments to Tappan 1st Floor Office May 24-28 between 8:20-3:30.
  • If you can’t return during that time, please contact Ms. Stout (band) or Ms. Knowles (orchestra) to set up an appointment after school hours.
  • After check in, your school instrument will stay at school and you will complete a non-instrument related assignment during class.
  • All 8th graders must return Tappan instruments
  • **Bass and Tuba players in 6th and 7th grade continuing in music and renting their instrument over the summer may complete their check in virtually and not return it to Tappan unless repairs are needed. 

All AAPS instruments must be returned by Friday, May 28th. 

Invoices for damage or replacement costs will be sent to families prior to June 11th. Payments can be made through MyPaymentsPlus.

AAPS Summer Instrument Rentals:

  • $50 rental fee for keeping instruments over the summer, $25 if you are participating in AAPS Summer Music Program. 
    • Fee is waived for students receiving free/reduced lunch. Please contact your MS director if you need the fee waived and are not receiving free/reduced lunch.
    • Use https://mypaymentsplus.com/ and email receipt of payment for summer rental to Ms. Stout (band) or Ms. Knowles (orchestra).
  • 8th graders must return their Tappan instrument and contact their high school music director the last week of school to arrange a summer instrument.

  • 6th/7th graders who are continuing music will have their school instrument returned to them after check in and rental fee is paid. 

AAPS Summer Music Program

  • The Ann Arbor Public Schools Summer Music Program is open to all levels of instrumental music students, grades 6-12 in Washtenaw County.
  • Students will have the opportunity to display their existing musical talent as well as be challenged with new skills. 
  • Dates: Monday, June 14 through Thursday, July 22, 2021 (See below for individual class or camp dates)
  • Locations: Huron, Open, Tappan (In-person instruction)
  • Fee: $150 per class and $300 for the Music Day Camp
  • Online only registration & payment begins Wednesday, April 28, 2021 through MyPaymentsPlus
